Different pilot gifts can be hard to find, as can presents for those with a passion for aviation. Here are some of the new flying gifts which are available this year.

Christmas presents which relate to a person’s passion or hobby are always welcomed. This year there are a number of new aviation gifts on the market which have not been seen before. Here are some great gift ideas, suitable as presents both for pilots and aviation enthusiasts.

Aviation Watches as Pilot Gifts

Watches designed for the flyer are always popular. This year the Hamilton Khaki X-Fuel Converter is available from Flightstore’s aviation gift catalogue. In addition to the usual pilot related functions, this watch converts the standard aviation fuel measurement of US gallons into litres. It is available in a limited edition of only 1500 pieces worldwide. Hamilton Khaki are also marketing an air race watch with a visual timing function.

Flightstore also have a wide selection of other pilots’ watches, including flight computer watches, and a Spitfire 70th Anniversary Douglas Bader watch with Douglas Bader’s signature on the reverse.

Christmas Tree Aviation Ornaments and Fun Gifts

These are available from a number of outlets, and make fun and inexpensive Christmas gifts for the aviation enthusiast. There is a wide variety available, showing a number of different aircraft, from Piper Cubs to Boeings. Related ‘fun’ gifts, which make cheap Christmas presents, are coasters and mugs with an aviation theme.

Aviation Clothing Christmas Gifts

Flying jackets are always popular. But those looking for inexpensive pilot gifts might like to consider the selection of aviation ties which are now available. There are ties with all types of aircraft – planes, helicopters, hot air balloons, and World War II fighters.

Presents for Women Pilots and Aspiring Flyers

Kai Aviation in Germany have this year produced a new range of ladies underwear, with the slogans ‘Remove Before Flight’ and ‘Follow Me’. Available in a range of sizes, these items are both fun and practical, and would also be suitable as swimwear…for the lady pilot who is traveling light!

Other suggestions for gifts for women pilots can be found in the article on Christmas Presents for Female Aviators.

Flight Bags for Christmas

Flight bags are always useful, and many pilots resent spending the money on them, as they are relatively expensive. New this year is the Brightline Pilot’s Bag, which offers two main compartments and 25 specialized pockets to hold everything a pilot might need to carry. It can also be zipped apart into two separate bags, so that the flyer need only carry what he or she needs for that particular flight.

There is a wide variety of other flying gifts available, and it is worth looking at a number of catalogues or internet sites. Further suggestions can be found in the article Aviation Christmas Presents. And of course a trial flying lesson is always popular as a gift for those who want to learn to fly, or just experience the magic of flight.
