It is possible to hire a private aircraft from jet charter companies, flying schools, and other organisations. Here's how to charter a plane for a special occasion.

Flying is exciting. So why not charter a plane and pilot for a special occasion, such as a birthday, wedding, or other celebration. It is possible to hire anything from a small private plane to a jet aircraft. Or someone can book a flying lesson and get the chance to have a go on the controls. So how would one go about arranging to charter an aircraft?

Finding Aircraft Charter Services

Many flying schools and commercial operators can arrange all sorts of private flights, depending on what the customer wants. They may do such things on a regular basis, and might be able to suggest ideas to prospective. Organisations which arrange jet charter can be found on the internet, or some advertise in magazines and newspapers.

However, it is best to make sure that it is the charter organization itself which is being dealt with. There are a number of ‘middle men’ – companies which offer flying experiences, and then they find the organization nearest to the customer’s home. This is a simple way of doing things, but it will be much more expensive.

What Can You Charter a Plane For?

The following are popular uses for planes, particularly for first time flyers:-

  • Aerial sightseeing, perhaps over a local landmark
  • A flying lesson, often called trial lessons or air experience flights, when the customer gets a chance to try flying for themselves
  • A flight to a wedding, perhaps even one’s own
  • A trip in a private jet from the UK to France or somewhere else in Europe
  • A flying experience, or just a short hop to just experience the magic of flight

There are many other possibilities, and almost anything can be arranged if the prospective customer simply lets their requirements be known.

Points to Consider When Choosing an Aircraft Type and Operator

Flying is not cheap, but it may not be as expensive as some people think. The cost can vary considerably, depending on what is required. For instance, it will cost much more to charter a private jet than for a quick flight in a small single-engined Cessna aircraft. It is worth the customer considering what it actually is that they want, and then shopping around. Also, remember that the customer will generally pay from the moment the aircraft leaves its base, so a company which is closest to where the customer intends to go is likely to work out more economical.

A private flying trip is very special. If it is planned carefully, it could provide a never-to-be-forgotten experience.
